Paketit olivat matkalla synagogiin Chicagossa.

Rahtikoneiden turvamääräyksiä kiristettiin heti tapahtuman jälkeen ympäri maailman.

Dubai Police seizes explosive package from Yemen
2010-10-30 13:02:17
Dubai, 30 Oct. 2010 (WAM) - The investigations launched by Dubai Police about the suspicious package found onboard a Federal Express cargo plane coming from Yemen has revealed that the package contained a computer printer with explosives loaded to its toner cartridge.
A statement released by Dubai Police today said the explosives were 'professionally' loaded and connected via an electric circuit to a mobile phone chip hidden inside the printer.
"The plot style carries features similar to previous attacks carried out by terrorist organisations like Al Qaeda. A team from Dubai Police EOD Unit disposed of the explosive device." According to the statement, the police were tipped off via an international call about the possibility of an explosive device hidden in postal packages onboard the FedEx flight originating from Yemen to Dubai.
The EOD specialists said the package contained the highly explosive PETN and lead azide substances, used in bomb detonators.
"Swift action has enabled Dubai Police to foil a potential act of terror in the place the package was bound to," it added.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Police in Dubai said Saturday that the bomb discovered there in a shipment of air cargo from Yemen that was bound for the United States contained the powerful explosive PETN and bore the hallmarks of al-Qaida.

The white powder explosives were discovered in the ink cartridge of a computer printer, said a police statement carried by official state news agency WAM. The device was rigged to an electric circuit, and a mobile phone chip was hidden inside the printer, the statment said.

The bomb, sent from Yemen in a FedEx shipment, was prepared in a "professional manner," police said.

PETN is the same chemical used in the failed attempt to blow up a U.S.-bound airliner on Christmas Day. That plot has been linked to al-Qaida's offshoot in Yemen.

"The plot style carries features similar to previous attacks carried out by terrorist organizations like al-Qaida," the Dubai police said.

"Swift action has enabled Dubai Police to foil a potential act of terror in the place the package was bound to," the statement said.
